As we start February, I’d like to give you an idea that I think will supercharge the rest of your year.
You don’t need to be motivated to get things done.
Motivation is a myth.
To be honest, I’m not always motivated to write. I’m not always motivated to jump on a difficult client call for someone on my team. I’m not always motivated to lead a company-wide meeting. I’m not always motivated to read a book. I’m not always motivated to work out.
But I do these tasks with surprising consistency and a great attitude.
Because I don’t need to feel like doing a thing before I do a thing—I just need to do the thing. Let me rephrase. I don’t have to feel like reading to read; I just need to read.
I often hear people dealing with issues regarding procrastination, laziness, getting started, or being consistent with their goals.
But a famous footwear company and Shia LaBeouf already came up with an easy solution for all four.
If there’s a task you're avoiding, I get it. It’s hard to do something you don't want to do.
But if you wait for inspiration, you could wait a very long time (potentially for the rest of your life).
So take action this week, especially when you don’t feel like it.
You'll be surprised by how much you get done.
Keeping things simple is one of the best productivity hacks I've learned.
Getting things done is a messy process.
